The Case

The case is well packaged with tight fitting foam and protective plastic. My first impression of this case is that it stands out with its glossy front bezel with chrome accents. Another eye catcher is the "spider web and eyes" side panel. The case is finished in a flat black finish. Once you get into the case and see its features, it becomes apparent this case is worth the $49 price tag. Inside you will find a small bag of main board mounting standoffs, screws, zip ties, and washers.

No directions for assembly are supplied but everything is plain and simple for the everyday user. One side 80mm intake fan comes installed gold color grill in the center of the spider web comes. Behind the front wall of the case you can see mounts for 4X80mm fans that blow across the Hard Drives on the inside. The rear has a standard ATX I/O panel and 2X80mm fan mounts. Heat should not be an issue in this case with its good airflow and design.

For an inexpensive case it does have some nice features like two front USB 2.0 ports, an area for one firewire port and audio ports. There is an LCD temperature display on the front, which didn't work on this model. I contacted the distributor about this and "this is the only case of this happening to date according to them." The LCD display can be changed from C° to F° from behind the front bezel.

This case has ledges to support the power supply that help take stress off the rear panel and screws from the weight of large power supplies. This also aids in installing a new power supply by not having to balance all of its weight and screw it in place at the same time.

Let's take a look below at all the wires and cables for the front bezel are routed behind the Hard Drive cage to keep a clean and neat appearance inside. The front LCD display is powered by a pass through molex connector. A fan adapter can be used as well. The LCD display receives the temperature signal from the attached sensor. The front mounted USB ports have a universal harness that will connect to most mainboards. This case offers some excellent airflow for cooling due to LGS's thoughtful design. There is no top exhaust fan but LGS has ported the top edge on each side of the case that will help in heat dissipation as you can see below.

Space is normal to work in for a mid-tower case nothing special here. Standard mounting for just about any brand ATX mainboard. All the internal edges are smooth and clean sharp edges are at a minimum. There are seven expansion slots in the rear with cover plates for full size ATX boards.

With space for 6X3.5" internal HDD's, 1X3.5" external drive, and 4X5.25" external drives there is plenty of room to add drives in the future. The top and both side panels are removable so setup is easy and installing drives almost painless, except for the fact that each drive has to be screwed in place, which is to be expected in an inexpensive case. The front bezel is removable for installing drives no screws are involved just pull a corner and it pops right off.

With the inexpensive price for this case you could buy some cold cathodes for the inside to dress things up, or a high quality power supply if you feel the need. I installed a 12" red and a 12" blue cold cathode so you can see the effects of each through the window. As you can see it looks good with either color.

Conclusion

Well for $49 don't expect a screwless case, a removable mainboard tray, or top exhaust fans; however for $49 you'll get a well assembled nicely finished, and premodded case with some features you'll appreciate. This is a great kid's or adult case with extra space for future upgrades. At 18.7 Lbs it could be a nice LAN rig for somebody to show off also.
