Using our simple sea website templates on our site you can buy website templates AMD has become a player in the world of computing. With a line of processors that not only meets the performance requirements of today's market but also caters to builders/end users/gamers on a budget. The XP line of Athlons are the current flavor of processor making their presence known to the computing public. Breaking with tradition and adopting a completely new naming convention for these processors has raised a few eyebrows and turned a few more heads. The initial release of the Athlon XP processors were at comparable speeds of, at that time, the Thunderbird line. AMD did stop there; they kept producing faster and faster XP's. To date the fastest XP was the Athlon XP 2000+ running a blazing 1.67GHz or 1670MHz. Hmmm, did you notice I said "WAS" the Athlon XP 2000+? For the last two and a half weeks I have been playing with an Athlon XP 2100+. Yep that's right AMD is ready to release the next XP processor and this baby is Pure Green Lightning. So I would like to share the results of countless hours of my benchmarking.
I have decided to do a little something different with this review. I received countless e-mails about system performance and upgrading. One of the most asked questions other than how much is this going to cost is how much performance will I gain by upgrading my processor. To see what type of gains we can get, we will be running the Athlon XP 2100+ against its younger siblings, the Athlon XP 1700+ and the 1ghz Duron. So let's take a look at the Athlon XP 2100+ and its specs.
Notice anything? It's green!!! Yep the old drab brown is gone and green is in. Kermit the Frog would be proud to own one of these. Also take a look at the packaging the XP 2100+ arrives in. All new packaging and a new style heatsink to keep your newly purchased XP cool and comfortable. Now just how fast is this thing? The listed specs are below for your viewing. Also take a look at our system specs as we are about to head into the benchmarks and see how much pop the Athlon XP 2100+ has to offer.
