Introduction

There are only a handful of companies that mass produce high quality enthusiast memory that come to my mind. These include: Corsair, OCZ - both featured in today's article, Mushkin, and Geil. Some companies that recently started producing these chips are Simpletech and Kingston. Today, we pin Corsair's finest against OCZ's in the battle to see what chip comes out on top! Believe it or not... they're both a winner! Let's find out which chip suits each category better.

Corsair

Corsair's modules are sought after worldwide because they are known for being very overclockable. Armed with this information, after searching the internet through forums and looking at users' signatures, there are more people using Corsair ram when compared to OCZ. Corsair established themselves by providing the best of everything to their end users. They created a forum for memory at www.asktheramguy.com, and a watercooling unit, with the help of Delphi, to please their enthusiast customers.

From the packaging to the memory of both chips look very similar: the mechanism to hold the memory, the simple packaging design, the awards on the back, a case sticker, etc.

The memory packs on a beautiful black finished heatsink.

On closer inspection you can see a holographic sticker, as well as detailed specifications. These specifications include each module having Low Latencies (2-3-2-6), 512 megabyte strip, PC3200 revision 1.1, and their website.

Corsair Extras

The one thing that Corsair did to gain some brownie points was including a case sticker and a guide to how to install memory correctly. This guide contains five languages: English, Dutch, Spanish, French, and Italian.

Now do you understand why Corsair scored brownie points?
