I've been playing EQ now for approximately two years. During that time I've put about 1 1/2 months total into if you were to add up all of the hours I've spent in game (for those of you who play and may not know, you can find this out by typing /played in your chat window). Most likely if you've reach the end of this review you're aware of how addictive this game can be. There was a time where I was spending an equal number of hours playing each week as I was working full time. So what exactly is it about this game that makes it so tempting, that draws people back day after day, month after month, year after year? I believe it's different for each person. Some people play purely for the power one feels when they get the nicest armor in the game or can say they're a veteran of all of the Planes. Others are in it just for the social factor. It's very easy to make new friendships when you're spending hours at a time with people who are sharing the same goal as you. I asked three different level 60s' what continued to motivate them to play. They all responded in the same manner... "Phat lewt" (i.e. phat loot for those who may not know).

Regardless of whether or not there's one single reason, Everquest now has over 300,000 members worldwide, and that number's still growing. It's a world that never sleeps, never stops and is always waiting for you to come in and explore. My suggestion? Try to find that nice balance between your real life (RL as it's referred to in game) and your game life. EQ will still be there tomorrow and the next day and the next...

EQ Extras
Below are some extras I thought I'd throw in regarding EQ.
  • Dragon Gallery - Click here to view some of Norrath's nastiest sharp-toothed giants
Helpful Links:
  • Castersrealm- Great resource for all caster classes
  • EQ Vault- Excellent resource for multiple questions and areas, includes Beastiary displaying creature level/location information
  • EQ Atlas- Maps of all zones, connected to Allakhazam's Magical Realm and their Beastiary. Allakhazam too is a fantastic resource but you have to pay a fee to use their services.
Fun stuff
