You
will find the interior of the case all too familiar! It is identical
to the PC-60 as well. We don't know of any other case this size
that you can get this much hardware inside! The design is very
simple and clean. One should take a moment to appreciate the
design its removable main board tray. The back plate is the
full width of the case; which allows you to slide the main board
out with all your PCI expansion cards in place, along with some
of the biggest heat sink and fan combinations. By removing two
thumbscrews, the hard drive rack slides out. Hard drives are
mounted vertically on their side with this case. Not only does
this allow you to get a total of five drives in the rack it
also allows for the best possible airflow over the drives. This
is a trademark Lian-Li has established over the years. This
will in no way have any effect on the performance or reliability
of the hard drives. A conversion plate was also included with
the case if you prefer your drives to be mounted in a "normal"
position.
A signature feature of Lian-Li's PC-6070, along with many other
6X series cases, is the "quick disconnect" cable for
all LED's and switches on the front of the case. This allows
all the connectors to be installed without having the motherboard
mounted
in the case. Unfortunately, the connectors for front USB ports
are not as easy to install. Because manufacturers have different
pin assignments for their onboard USB port, eachwire has its
own connector. To make matters even worse, you will have to
remove the connectors every time you remove the board, which
means you may be struggling all over again. We wonder if Lian-Li
could add a "quick disconnect" here as well. To help
you with the battle, a sticker on the USB cables displays a
pin guide to help you with installation, but it's far from convenient.
Here you can see the sound damping material on the top and the
usual Lian-Li craftsmanship we've come to admire. Once again,
thumbscrews are everywhere..

By nature, most PC enthusiasts want a product that looks as
good as it performs. This Lian-Li doesn't fall short. We don't
know of a single manufacturer that offers half of the accessories
that Lian-Li does. As you can see from the pictures, Lian-Li offers
numerous accessories which compliment their entire case product
line, including... floppy and CD-ROM driver covers (to match your
current drives to the Lian-Li look), a dual temperature readout
sensor that mounts in a 3.5" bay (the probe can be placed
anywhere in the case), and finally a removable hard drive rack.
This section is meant to be merely informative to let you as the
reader know what is readily available.

Overall,
Lian-Li has produced another award winning case that our team
recommends. In short, this is a sound deadened PC-60 with a
door and no blow hole. Of course, this doesn't mean you can
run a sound barrier breaking heatsink/fan and still expect to
have a quiet PC. Choose your components wisely!
Two questions came to mind during the course of our review.
First, does the sound damping material help that much? Second,
does the sound damping material affect the cooling capability
of the case? The answer to both these questions is yes. We compared
the PC-6070 side-by-side with the standard PC-60 containing
the same components and found it to be noticeably quieter.
On the other hand, the PC-6070 averaged 3-4 degrees warmer
than its predecessor. We don't see this being a problem for
the average user. But when you get right down to it, there's
a trade off of cooling for silence and depending on your personal
preference, this case may or may not be right for you. Ultimately,
it all depends on how essential silence is to you, and if you
prefer a case which features a door. However, there is one thing
that is certain; with more than 15 variations of the PC-60 series
there is almost certainly a case in this line-up that will suit
your needs.
