What do you want from a video card?

Feel free to post here some suggestions on what you'd like to see graphics card manufacturers implement. If it's a constructive idea, I will go ahead and paste your comments to an interview that I will conduct with some of the leading graphics card manufacturers and see what they say!

So shoot away.

It can be software related, hardware related, example being an upgradeable processor/RAM anything you can think up that is a constructive idea.

Hmmmm I would like trio monitor support. I have another monitor just waiting to be used and I could use the extra desktop real estate.

Other than that, nothing else. Could they come with free beer also? That would be a plus.....

ASk ATI this!!

Will the R300 improve the anisoptry filtering to trilinear from bilinear? Will Smoothvision settings be limited to screen resolution like they currently are?

Ziggy

That's a very interesting question...unfortunately they are going to keep VERY tight lipped until after the board gets out.

I am planning on talking to them soon, I'll go ahead and try to wrench it out of em.

Mousepotato,

As much as I'd like to see that too, they may say "well we want to differentiate our products and apply them to specific markets...yada yada yada" but that's worth a shot too...perhaps I'll ask that to my ATI interview when it comes up. Right now I am working on CreativeLabs and nVidia though, but they get pestered enough.

I agree with MousePotato in regards to the confusing nomenclature used by video card manufacturers.

But to the question of what I'd like to see from the video card manufacturers....my request would be rather simple (ya, right). I think Matrox is on the right track with the Parhelia, but the supported resolutions are just too low. If someone is going to have three monitors on a system (like myself) they certainly aren't looking for individual resolutions in the 1280 x 1024 variety.

I'd like to see a "super pumped" Parhelia card. Get them resolutions up!!

DF03D,

On a more personal note, Your suggestion of using a GeForce2 64MB card for the third monitor is under way!! I bought a third 21" IBM P260 on eBay last night for $420 (brand new) and my buddy is giving me his "old" (used it for a month) GeForce2 card. So in a week or so, it'll be triple monitor heaven here in Sonora!!

Thanks again for your advice.....and trust me, I'll have more questions.

3 monitors/3 LCD's. 16-32x anti-aliasing. resolutions higher than 1880x1440 (monitors too). better than Toy Story 2 graphics!

Well...Let me think? Hmmm... I would like for the game developers to get of thier @$$es, and start giving us games that take advantge of what all the video cards can suposedly do at no lesser than 80 fps. Heck were just starting to get heavy implementation of T/L.

Dual CRT support. I'm so tired of these CRT + DVI cards. Thank you ATI for finally delivering on that...

I'd also like RAMSINKS on BGA RAM!! Believe it or not, yes it does help once you start OCing.

I'd also like Fragmented AA-- Matrox did it, I'd like to see it on an NVIDIA or ATI card.

Good image quality! My VT Ti200 has bad image quality

And of course, fastest framerates

I don't really mind my card (8500 128mb)....it's great, smooth and fast....good price.... i'd like them to make more of these kind (good performance/quality/price), not the $600+ video cards. It's just not going to get my money if it's that expensive.

I'd really LOVE to see Duke Nukem Forever come out/more info on the release date...although that has nothing to do with video cards.
