Antec Sonata Case

A review for Antec's quiet case, the Sonata, is long overdue. Like the piano, this case sports a beautiful black finish that no one wants to touch because of the fear of smudging.

Close-ups are nice, but what about some shots of the whole case? I would have liked to see pictures of the front, rear, and side, as well as one with those LEDs (next to the front connectors) on.

I believe I have some of those shots on the FTP server. Perhaps Devin can put some up.

hi

any idea if the ZALMAN CNPS7000A-cu can fit properly, or will it have the same problem touching the PSU like the thermaltake in the review? I think the zalman fits differently but I'm wondering because I have already ordered the sonata but not yet a HSF.

thanks

When I get back home after school, I'll get a measurement of the Heatsink and fan on it. AFAIK, I think the Zalman heatsink is smaller than the SP97 + 92mm fan.

I have a friend who is using the Zalman 7000A-Cu in his Sonata. Fits just fine.

Although you may have an issue if the socket on your board is very close to the top edge of the board.

Sorry for the late response that I promised to have earlier. But I made the measurements and with the wire that holds the fan, it came out to be around 95 mm. Don't forget, I have the AN7, so if the motherboard you bought has the CPU socket a different orientation, all that will change.

^i'm with stupid

indeed, some boards just stick their sockets too daarn close to the top of the board... bad layout imo

i'd investigate your board options before using it

(sabre's got his zalman on an a64, which probably has a bit diff location, unless the cooler is for 64's only, in which case i once again don the )
