Sounds real tempting, especially with the rebate going on. Can I buy this from any dealer for the rebate, or is is just through Pinnacle?
Also, are the specs about the PCI card available??

Any PCI card would do the trick, but our software is so cool, you should buy our card. It's almost like we are giving the card away for free with the Studio 8 software. From within the program you can burn DVD's with moving backgrounds on the menus, you name it. It is $129.99 with a $30.00 Mail in rebate through the end of March.

Yeah, we're not the golf ball company.

We do video editing from $99 all the way to CNN and the NBA and Gladiator.

We've won 8 Emmy's for technical achievement. We invented the overlay for the downhill skiing during the Winter Olympics, stuff like that.

The cool thing is that we have crammed some of that technology into our $99 stuff.

We also make Instant Copy, myMP3PRO, and high end editing software like Edition (which is the same interface that the BBC uses to edit the news every night).

Go to our website and look around sometime. There is a button to win a copy of Edition and some other stuff from us and Monarch.

the address is www.pinnaclesys.com

data rate specs, stuff like that.

you can go pretty deep on our website, but not trying to blow you off or anything.

I have only worked for Pinnacle since last August, but I have been using the Studio since the first version in 1998.

I have never had a problem, my skillz with Studio were one of the reasons I came to work with Pinnacle.

The only thing you can't do with it is stuff like PIP, zooming, rotating, blue screen. It only has only layer of video at a time.

If you want to do the really cool music video looking or X-Games type footage you have to step up to Edition. It is $699.99, but you can get true broadcast quality.

It ranks up there with Final Cut Pro for the Mac, Adobe Premiere, and Avid Express.

Hi Andy Well I don't have a DVD burner yet I'm new to all this stuf. I have a problem with the DVD formats there are too many of them. I burn CD's but not the DVD's because I'm confused about what format works for what? Sooner or later tho I guess I will get a DVD. Have a good day.

Actually, I just checked into the rebate and it seems like it expired at the end of January. is there another one? I can't find mention of it anywhere.
Also, when I'm through transferring my analog tapes to DVD, my new camera is a DV with a firewire (1394) interface. I have the firewire interface built into my motherboard. Will the Studio that I buy in the AV package work well with this? or do you have a realtime firewire MPEG encoder that I can use with the software?

Two answers

Fox Sports does use us, but unfortunately the "puck tracker" and the "1st Down Marker" aren't ours. The score in the corner of the screen is ours. And so are all the player graphics.

The new season of the NBA on TNT will be all our graphics. It is a product called Deko.

Back to the DVD burning. If you have a firewire port you can just buy the software. The rebates are current. Just email me.

For analog though, you'll need a good PCI card device

All DVD formats are pretty much the same, but for cheapness and ease of use the CD burner still rules.

The media is pratically free and MPEG2 SVCD's look pretty good.

DVD is 720x480 resolution
SVCD is 480x480 resolution

VCD is MPEG 1 and only 320x240. Any of these MPEG 1 standalone recorders like the first gen. Terapin's are pretty crappy.

Hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand?

No really, the Studio AV will control your onboard firewire, no problem. Most firewire is OHCI compliant, and we can talk to any of those.

So, let me make sure I understand this. if I buy the Studio AV version, I can transfer all my analog tapes. Then, I can use the same software with my firewire port for transferring DV tapes to DVD. Does this mean that the card that comes with your Studio DV package is a firewire only, not realtime encoding?
If so, how long does it take to encode a 1 hour DV file into MPEG format with your software (assuming a high end PC)?
Joe
