Athlon Distributed Computing Team?
For the lesser mortals in order to convert PSD to CSS converting Psd to html is something that requires the help of designers and programmers
|
|
I would like to ask the members here at AthlonXP to help me form a team to compete in a Distributed Computing team based compitition.
Distributed Computing is taking a complexe process that would normaly take an extremly powerful and expensive server years to crunch on a solution, and splitting up the job between multiple processors. Making use of thousands of computers gets the job done quicker.
There a re a few clients and causes out there using this method.. a few are SETI(Search for Extraterestial life forms), and Folding@Home(folding proteins to help map the human gnome).
I prefer (and currently am on Icrontic's team) Folding @ Home, because it is benificial to myself and every other human on the planet. Understanding more about the human body would help to find cures for diseases and such. This is good. heh
I hate to plug another forum like this but heres a link to a Sticky thread at Icrontic's forums explaing F@H in detail for anyone wanting to learn a bit more about it. _Link for more info_
I would like to form a team here and get this community involved in something humane and to get our competative blood flowing for a good cause.
Look here to see how the team stats work.. the top window shows the team compared to the rest of the teams on the charts
Icrontic Team stats
Lets here some views on this.

Folding@Home 2.17 for Windows_Console
you have to browse to the 'old' folder when you get to the FTP. 2.19 will grab more ProtienA's tho which yield more points? Helpfull hint
Imma go ahead and set up the team stuff at the main page. Ill post team info shortly.

Check the links under my sig for our teams results. (Statsman's pages get the info a bit late and may not recognize us yet, but it will soon)

For some reason the links in your signature aren't working for me. Also you may want to check your signature

Zwolf.. thanks for the info... But it seems that out of the three links, the only one that isnt working id the "Statsman" page. I've known this one hasnt worked yet. Statsman's page has been real lack here recently and hasnt picked up that we have a team yet. Standford is showing our results, and is being updated right on time. The sig itself is linked to my home page and is working properly.
Thanks again,
GAb

Grab one of the client applications [url="http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html"]Here!![\url]
There are two versions.. one is a console based app which runs quietly in the background, and another that is a screensaver.
Then when you launch the client(either) it will ask you for a little bit of info, one being your teams #. AthlonXP's team number is 10002.
If you look in my first post, there is a link for "More Info". There is plenty of info there on the clients, and other various DL's like F@H monitoring apps.
Good luck!!

Count me in! Although I'm a little bit suprised that nobody brought up "THINK" from UD.com . It's a cancer research program that checks chemical reactions with proteins that have known or suspected links to several types of cancer. They used to even have cash prizes and all, but now all that stuff is going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation...
I suppose I shouldn't be suprised... I just remembered it's an **Intel** based program...
Oh well, I'm off to fold!
