I want it to be stable and compatable. I would like to be able to upgrade the card itself. Such as adding more ram or even changing the processor.

I agree. I think it would be great if you could just change the proc or ram and upgrade, just like you do a mobo, or even buld your own video card that way, just like you build a computer.

Now THAT is one fine idea!!

I broke down and ordered a Parhelia, even though it won't support the high resolutions I like across all three monitors. Now we'll see if I can live with 1280 x 1024 on all three or if I'll have to keep using a second card for the third monitor.

The folks over at Matrox won't share their future plans.......I'm bettin' that a week after I get the card in my hot little hands they'll come out with what I'm REALLY lookin' for. Its always like that.

By the way, DFo3D started this thread a while back and I haven't seen him around.....anyone know where he's off to? When it comes to video cards, he's the man!!

It has been done before sort of. I have an old sound card called an AWE64 Gold. An user can upgrade the memory but the memory is part specific.
I would like to add a bios to the card. That would give us something to play with rather than using software or drivers and such to overclock the cards.

All I'd ask is they get the Matrox Parhelia fitted with some 1GHz speed memory, and get the core up to 500MHz, and I think everyone will see almost every request prior to this will be met. The Parhelia already supports tri-monitor output, and does it extremely well. With the right re-engineering I beleive it could be the best GPU on the market. Why they've allowed this card to die a slow death, defies all logic? Below is the Parhelia's current spec's from their website;
512-bit GPU
256-bit DDR memory interface
256MB DDR memory
High performance 2D, 3D & video
Triple-RGB, Dual-DVI, TV output
Surround Design and Surround Gaming
DualHead-HF and TripleHead Desktop
16x Fragment Antialiasing
UltraSharp Display Output technology
10-bit GigaColor technology
Matrox PrecisionCAD driver for AutoCADŽ
Realtime Display Color Adjustment
PureVideo Preview
Visualization Plugin for AutoCADŽ
WYSIWYG Plug-ins for DCC
10-bit GigaColor Plugin for PhotoShop
Color Calibration and ICC profiling utility
AGP 4X

I thought the Matrox was mostly a work station type card and that it was not as good as the others at 3d games. Though I may be wrong.

What he's trying to say is that if they could give it some real speed it would be a winner in gaming too

3 Questions,

I got the Nvidia Quadro FX 1000, he he he... and I would like to know,

How do you know if your card is performing at par?

How do you know if it is getting hot, ie pci blocking fan?

How do you get boost performance/optimize?

about time I answered to this thread. I want a card that costs the same as they do now, Minus the ghey overprice for newer weaker chips, and bottle-necked performance, and give me some 2d with my overpriced 3d!!!

The 3d market cant rip basic 2d to save its own life. My desktop and photo editing software makes a huge difference in my overall happiness of my system.

I've seen snapier desktops on my tweaked macs under 400 mhz g3's, compared to my recent xp2100 w/gfc2 GTS 32mb. (g3 was onboard video - ATi 4mb)

Am I asking too much, or is the consumer video card market missing the point?

GAb

Question

You definitely know that through SEO, your business will benefit hugely, so you have to make sure to find the right Link Building Company that can help you gain your goals SEO on lookup motor rankings, finding the best Link Building Company for your business is a lot more crucial than ever. Link building Company will help you | Simple Website Templates. Every great website and web design needs a starting place or point. Our own newly redesigned website started from a basic template that was heavily modified to suit our needs and the same can be done for you. Using our simple sea website templates on our site you can buy website templates

I suppose I have expierenced about everything that can be with video cards.
I must have a system that plays all games without any lockups, freezes, reboots etc.
I am a first person shooter player, and the newer games require a really good video card to scan huge scenes ofcountry, mountains, on the sea etc.
We have settled on ATI for our video card installations on all the systems we custome build.
We do offer nVidia cards in some packaged deals on the site.
I personally have a difficult time in getting a nVidia card to install and perform as I want it to. I usually have to get online with someone that is a nVidia user and get some advise.
I don't know exactly why this is.
We have no problems with the installation of Radeon cards and drivers in any of the systems we sell.
In addition to the basic things mentioned above, we demand that video be smooth when moving from one scene to another.
No matter how quickly you move the mouse, the video must keep up and be there when you need to press the fire button or whatever you are doing.
No overheating problems, flicker, lack of rich color, etc.
Being demanding on the systems we build requires the very best components available, memory, system board, powersupply, video card, case (air circulation is a must for cooling).
Reliability and stability are utmost goal when building a system.

I got the A7N8X Del and sometimes when I restart a level or something the sound gets all crackely and I thought it was the northbridge but then the sound gets better 5-10 minutes later. Any ideas, I complained to Asus that their heat sink sucked but no word from the lazy bird.
