Powmax Demon Series power supplies

Some of the most prominent parts of a computer are the CPU and video card. However, the life blood of the computer, electricity, comes from the often overlooked, yet integral part of the computer, the power supply. With today's high end CPUs, video cards, and numerous drives demanding large amounts of power, a quality power supply has never been more important to have. Powmax offers two high-wattage power supplies under their Demon line. Let us see how they handle the rigors of today's high end machines.

Nice review Kevin.

I have to agree with you about the weight to quality comparison.

Here's a link to my first attempt at a review. It just seemed fitting as I had a Powmax PSU and came to the same conclusion.

Until manufacturers start adding dead weight to the inside of their PSU's, I will always use weight as one determining factor in a PSU purchase.

I have had a few of these PowMax Power Supplies...

I can get them as cheap as $12, or even as low as $30 with the whole case, that fits both Intel and AMD MotherBoards. They have the power to run some mid power computers. But, they seem to flake out in a year or less. I am now running into a huge problem with AC line noise. They seem to generate really bad AC line noise. Well, at least one has. For the price they are great, but spend the extra money and have pice of mind.

One caveot.. I do business with ComputerGeeks and they wil honor their 1 year warranties on these and other parts, Even up to the last day of the warranty they will exchange it for a new/rebuilt one. But, again, it is better to spend the extra money and get a PSU that has the quality built it.

IMHO

(I also live close enough that I can go pick up the computer stuff I buy in person, at 'Will Call, or the small store they have. The shipping cost alone usually negates a good deal). To say it best, if you have a really nice computer you cannot sleep good, knowing that a cheap power supply can wipe out your whole computer if it blows.. up! ).
