Use of a 'free' e-mail address such as hotmail is prohibited. This is in order to protect buyers from people using untraceable e-mail addresses.
Thread crapping is rude and it is not tolerated. If you feel the price is unfair inform the seller in a PM or email. If I find someone crapping, your post will be deleted. The only exception will be making a n00b aware of the rules. Just do it nicely!
No pirated software sales. This includes selling and buying. Anyone who knowingly buys or sells pirated software publicly through this forum will be permanently banned.
You may not sell Academic or NFR (Not for Resale) software. OEM software must be sold with hardware or in accordance with the terms the OEM software is sold with.
No multi-level(pyramid style) marketing schemes.
You MUST post a price for ALL FS deals and FS/FT deals. No bidding will be allowed either. The item WILL NOT be sold for more than you list it.
No auction style posts (This isn’t Ebay). This includes links to auctions on other sites.
The subject of your thread should consist of the type of transaction ("FS" (For Sale), "FT" (For Trade), "WTB" (Want to Buy), etc)
No Price checks. For now we will be allowing interest checks.
No excessive bumping of your thread, if no one wanted to buy it the first time, no one is going to the second. Keep your bumps 4 hours apart please.
No flaming or in-before-the-lock posts.
No alcohol, tobacco, or firearms are to be sold here. We can get in serious trouble for that.
No pornography will be sold publicly either. We really have no way of verifying age’s folks.
No "Group Buys" If you do not own it, you can't sell or trade it.
No "services" allowed. (ex. I can build xxx for you @ xxx each)
No "dealers" or vendors of any kind. If you are purchasing items in quantity, with the sole intent of bringing them here to resell, you are a dealer.
Please have no more than one or two threads active at the same time. If you want to add more stuff just edit your post and bump it back to the top.
No misleading thread titles. If anyone tries to goatse this forum I will personally hunt you down.
Due to an update in the PayPal terms of service, it is a violation to charge buyers a "service fee" or "service charge".
Above all please handle all transactions with common sense. Get real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. from everyone and always check for heatware or beerology.
Lastly I want to quote this directly from the FS/FT at Anandtech. Truer words cannot be spoken. (I did change a few words to fix spelling and replaced Anandtech with AthlonXP.)

So what’s significant about the 6 Ps here on the ATHLONXP FS/Trade forums? Its all about Integrity, honesty, and performance of duty. It’s about fulfilling your obligations in your transactions here on the forum.
Lately we have seen an alarming number of traders newbie, and veteran alike coming up with lots of excuses for poor performance in their transactions. Among these are ..
1. No money to ship your items.
2. No packing materials.
3. No time, due to other family obligations.
4. Midterms/Finals coming up.
5. I forgot.
6. I don’t spend 24/7 behind my keyboard.
7. I just don’t care.
8. I changed my mind.
9. I lost all my PMs and Emails
10.Who do I owe money too? I lost the info
11. Who sent me this money order? I can’t remember what I sold!
On and on and on..................... way too many to list.
People if you have time to post a FS thread, to receive payment, to receive goods, to reply to all the offers in your threads, and to strike a deal to begin with, you have time to pack your items properly, and ship out in a timely manner. All it takes is a little preparation to begin with. To have your packing materials ready, or even pack in advance if necessary. You should already have a time set aside to deliver the goods to your carrier. And very important is to set aside a few minutes of the day to COMMUNICATE with those with whom you have deals IT DOESNT TAKE BUT A SMALL SPACE OF TIME! And maintain anchannel of communication until your transactions are complete.
Why become the topic of a thread that will damage or destroy your reputation? It doesn't take a genius to figure it out my fellow traders! You are slowly but surely making a great opportunity like the forums into a shameful mess that will in time run everyone worth his salt away from here, all because of your lack of responsibility. And that’s all this really amounts to .... taking responsibility for your actions, and implementing a plan to maintain honest, ethical trading practices. You are all old enough to know better, so why act like you need a nursemaid to hold your hand to get the job done?
Your word is your bond, your word is your rep, and your actions speak louder than all the words combined. If you cant maintain and keep your word, and if you can’t meet your obligations, then you have NO business doing business here. PLEASE do everyone a favor, including yourself, and don’t do business where people depend on you to perform your duty to them, and conduct business in a mature and honorable fashion.
Everyone has a burden fall upon them once in a great while, and those rare circumstances can be forgiven. I also know there are few who have had to deal with a much greater burden than I. I am asking you Please to do the right thing. If I can do it, and many other top-notch traders can do it, then you can and MUST! If you don’t, this forum will eventually die, and you will once again be left to the vultures at Ebay, and paying retail for all your hardware needs. DONT BLOW IT!
I hope all of you take this in the mature manner in which I intended to offer it. If the shoe fits wear it......

It’s as simple as that folks. We aren’t trying to stifle the FS/FT community here with all these rules. Please remember that I compiled this list to help protect our traders. I personally want this to become one of the top FS/FT communities on the net. This is a very real possibility and a big way to help is to follow the rules and above all, TRADE SMART and TRADE FRIENDLY!!
