We will also have the 160 based on the 80GB/Platter technology
in the market next month. It will come with a FDB Motor/8MB cache and choice of UDMA-133/Serial-ATA interface... (S-ATA will be available in April...)

now that I notice, Chuck is from the HDD. That means Hard Drive Division correct?

In that case, sorry for asking questions on LCD's.

As for Hard Drives, does Samsung have any plans with SATA hard drives for home users. If so around when will they be widely available to the consumer market.

Hi Chuck,
I have a question about Serial ATA drives. At first I thought that they would be faster that parallel IDE drives, but from what I read they're not really faster. What do you see as the main advantages to going to Serial ATA?? Any faster hardware coming up in the near future?

Yeah I am interested in the SATA speeds as well. Currently they dont seem to be much faster, if any than standard ata. Should we expect some speed boosts in the near future here?

Over time the follow on generations will be much faster than current ATA which hit its limit. On your next PC make sure you get Serial ATA for the future.

Generation 1
Data Rate 150 Mbytes/sec
2003

Generation 2
300 Mbytes/sec
Mid-2004

Generation 3
600 Mbytes/sec
Mid-2007
