SATA wraps the bits in a hard drive up to 50% faster than parallel ATA.
Currently I think they run at a data-rate of 150mb/sec

SATA
Yes, Samsung will be introducing our S-ATA drives sometime in April... I will make sure that we make a lot of noise when it available for the market...!!! GRIN...

As for Hard Drives, does Samsung have any plans with SATA hard drives for home users. If so around when will they be widely available to the consumer market.

I read something about Generation 3 SATA technology that will have hard drives with a data rate of 600mb/sec. They would come out sometime in 2007.
Will Samsung be involved with this 3rd generation SATA technology?

Well both interfaces will be available... (Not on the same drive though) Motherboards will support both S-ATA & UDMA-133 for the time being so I think that the end-users do not have to worry about interface support for a while...
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Is that either or? Or both available on the same drive?

Any hard plans for increasing these access speeds?

Hey HDD Chuck...
Do you guys plan to follow in WD footsteps by releasing any 10k rpm ide drives? How would these drives compare to the U160/320 SCSI drives on the market today?
