Hands

Although the XP2600+, XP2700+, and the XP2800+ fit into the Socket A pin
alignment, they DO NOT run on just any Socket A chipset platform at their
full potential. A motherboard with 333MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) capabilities
is required! A motherboard with the KT266, KT333, and a few KT400 series
along with the Sis, older AMD and original NForce chipsets will not support
the 333 FSB. (Gigabyte's 7VRXP Rev 3.0 (KT333), ASUS A7V333 Rev 2.0 (KT333),
and MSI's KT3 Ultra 2 Rev 1.0A1 (KT333) are among a few of the older boards
that will support these CPUs. To be certain visit your manufacture's website
for compatibility information for these CPUs. A BIOS flash on all KT400
motherboards should fix incompatibilities.) Incompatible motherboards
may possibly support the memory at those speeds, but not the CPU bus speeds.
The CPU and memory do not have to be synchronous. Be certain your motherboard
has 333MHZ FSB support before ordering your new chip. You can avoid the
headache of trying to find out why your new XP2700 is booting up at 1350MHz
by checking first.

All of the systems listed above have been run at default specs. The
bus speeds had to be set in the bios, as well as the option for optimal
memory timings. The bios has many more options for tweaking and overclocking.
The memory timings used here were synchronous by default. The default
memory timings were on auto and run at 2-2-5 settings.
