Using our simple sea website templates on our site you can buy website templates Featuring the NEW AMD 760 MPX chipset, the Tyan Tiger MPX now has a couple of features that many people will welcome witharms. The AMD 760 MPX chipset is a high performance two-way multiprocessor core logic solution for the AMD Athlon MP processors. The MPX chipset offers Multi-Processor eXtended performance over the AMD-760 MP chipset. The 66-MHz/64-bit/32-bit PCI bus and a feature-rich peripheral bus controller offering PCI-to-PCI bridging capability along with AC `97 audio offer this extended performance. The AMD-760 MPX chipset is comprised of the AMD-762 System Controller (Northbridge) that we are all familiar with and the NEW AMD-768 Peripheral Bus Controller (Southbridge). To give you an idea of how all this is setup, below is a diagram of the AMD-760 MPX layout.

Tyan Tiger MPX will come in two varieties. Users will have the choice of the Tiger MPZ with (S2466N) or without (S2644) an on board 3Com LAN connection. Both platforms will have two 64bit/66MHz PCI slots in addition to the four 32bit/33MHz PCI slots. The addition of these 64bit/66MHz slots adds performance to the proven stable Tiger platform and expands its capabilities as a workstation platform. With many graphical intensive programs, optimal hard drive utilization/performance is necessary to process files quickly and efficiently. With the addition of a 64bit/66MHz SCSI controller the end user could obtain a maximum theatrical throughput of 533 MB/s. It's nice to see Tyan is listening to its customers and providing us with what we are asking for.
The above illustration provides us an understanding of how the AMD-762 Northbridge and the AMD-768 Southbridge function together on paper. However, how does it perform as a complete package using real world applications? Below you can see the layout of the Tyan Tiger MPX (S2466N) motherboard.
