Using our simple sea website templates on our site you can buy website templates Strolling the isles of almost any local computer store you may have noticed it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a new computer that is still housed in a beige box. Many manufacturers have changed their cases to black, silver or in some cases (no pun intended) a pretty pastel. This trend may have been sparked by the Mac world with the introduction of their color line products a few years back. But back to the task at hand
Is this beginning of the end of beige cases? Only time will tell but in the mean time are other component manufacturers going to follow this current trend so we can match our CD-ROMs and other peripherals to our cases better then our socks? Why do Rom manufacturers continue to make most of their products in beige? Is there not a huge market for black and silver components or perhaps the occasional Hot Pink of the 80's??? The answer is yes and slowly but surely manufacturers are dipping their toes in the business. Stage center, Lian-Li enters as our hero once again. Lian-Li has introduced a line of drive covers to remedy the situation.
Like many of you, I jumped on the all aluminum case craze only to find that beige colored components took away from the cases innovative style. This led me in search of a colored Rom that would match my cases perfectly. As many of you are probably aware I found many top of the line ROMs are not available in black, let alone silver. Black components are attractive but costly, especially if you already have beige ROMs and are not due for an upgrade. I wanted a stealth type look without loosing functionality. Before I knew it I was sanding priming and painting ROMs. Not only was it a mess, but time consuming and costly. There had to be a better way
Not to long ago Lian-Li released a product that would help remedy this problem these are aluminum self adhesive drive covers. Let's take a look and see if it has solved the issue completely. Pictured above are four samples Lian-Li has provided for review. Immediately I noticed each aluminum bezel kit was both manufacturer and model specific. That could definitely be a problem. Lian-Li as of now has not provided aluminum bezel kits for ROMs made by manufacturers such as Lite-On and Plextor. Each kit comes with the appropriate faceplate with sturdy adhesive for easy installation.
