The new PC-6070 continues the tradition of the PC-6X footprint,
but has departed from the usually exposed drive bays with the
addition of hinged door panel. This is the first model in Lian-Li's
mid-tower product line to feature a full-fledged door. The two
previous mid-tower enclosures from Lian-Li, the PC-6087 and
6089 included a flat transparent acrylic door, maintaining the
cases' traditional box like shape. The door featured on the
new PC-6070, however, is unique in that it is fully fabricated
from aluminum and has a graceful outward curve on its face.
The
door from right to left and snaps into the closed position
via two ball bearings. It does not feature any type of locking
mechanism, so if your reason for purchasing an enclosure with
a door is security, you may want to look elsewhere. By pushing
a lever located on the hinge side at the top, the door can be
removed with ease.
ng
the door reveals that this case is essentially identical to
the PC-60 series. Interestingly enough, the key element that
was omitted in the new PC-6070 design, is the three-position
fan switch located on just about every other Lian-Li case. One
reason Lian-Li opted not to include the switch is because it
uses low RPM fans, which does cut down noise significantly,
without a speed adjustment. We would have preferred Lian-Li
to use normal speed fans and include the switch, allowing adjustment
based on our own comfort and performance level.
It should be noted that two front mounted high-speed 2.0 USB
ports are still included. A rubber gasket is fixed to the door,
which should help cut down on noise and vibrations.
Unlike
many cases with a door, the face of the PC-6070, as well as
the door, is detachable. With the removal of four small screws
the door assembly slides right out. This allows access to thumb
screws securing the 3.5 external hard drive rack. It also reveals
two 80mm fans and allows access to the air intake. Unfortunately,
the design seems to be rather restrictive. It does contain a
dust filter, removed by two thumbscrews on the bottom of the
case. A quick look over the back of the door assembly reveals
more sound damping material attached to all contact points and
around allngs.

identical to the PC-60 series, featuring a removable main board
tray and power supply bracket. It also should be noted that
items, including the side panels, are all held in place with
thumbscrews for easy removal. We were surprised to find that
no blowhole is used in the top of the case. Our team believes
there should be a top exhaust fan on every case! We are assuming
Lian-Li's intentions were to keep this case as quiet as possible.
In an effort to quiet the case, both side panels are fitted
with sound damping material on the inside. The material is approximately
1/8" thick, light-weight; effective, porouscell material.
