The design of this power supply was not as "good" compared to its
older brother, the 530w unit, because it does not have the new Molex
connector design, a sheath over the ATX motherboard connector, and
did not have a Serial ATA power connector. This power supply however
features a noise killer, over voltage protection, and short circuit
protection just like the 530w unit. This PSU has:
- +5V 40A
- +12V 15A
- +3.3V 28A
- -5V .3A
- -12V .8A
- +5V SB 2.0A
- 1 20 pin ATX motherboard connector
- 1 4 pin 12v connector
- 1 6 pin Auxiliary connector
- 6 4 pin Molex connectors
- 2 4 pin floppy connector
A little side by side comparison (Fortron 530w Specifications):
- +5V 40A
- +12V 18A
- +3.3V 28A
- -5V .3A
- -12V .8A
- +5V SB 2.0A
- 1 20 pin ATX motherboard connector
- 1 4 pin 12v connector
- 1 6 pin Auxiliary connector
- 6 4 pin Molex connectors
- 2 4 pin floppy connector
- 1 Serial ATA connector

Using our simple sea website templates on our site you can buy website templates And we see that there's 2 differences, the amps on the +12v line is different, of 3 amps,
and the lack of the Serial ATA connector. Another difference that is not shown here from the
pictures, are the fans, there's only one fan on the 400w unit. On the 530w unit, there are 2
clear/translucent fans that handle the cooling of the unit, which was very adequate. On the
400w unit, here we have a Nidec 80mm fan, which suffices. I had this computer on all day,
and pumps out a nice amount of air, and keeps the power supply very cool. I tried looking up
the specs to the Nidec fan, and it was a fruitless attempt at finding the CFM or the dB.
However, since all of the Fortron PSU's that will be reviewed have a noise killer,
there should be no problems with noise from the PSU. As a matter of fact, my Corsair HydroCool
is louder than my entire system.
