Gaming Performance

Okay lets see how the A7N266-C handles some gaming benchmarks. Gamers are always looking to get an edge on the other players. To do this you need a smooth, fast platform that can help generate higher framerates. After all it's all about the framerates, isn't it? The ability of a motherboard to handle the extreme amount of information generated by games today is crucial. So let's see if nVidia's nForce 415-D chipset can handle the load as well as Via's KT266a does.

MadOnion's 3DMark 2001se is an update to the original 3Dmark2001. 3DMark has become the cornerstone of benchmarking for gamers. This intensive direct 3D benchmark runs a video card through the paces but also helps show the overall performance of your gaming rig.

The A7N266-C out scores the 8KHA+ by 120 points. The nForce chipset steps up to the plate and takes the KT266a for a ride.

Aquamark tests the effectiveness of the video card of the user's computer under real world conditions. This means that AquaMark is not a demo-benchmark, as it contains a full working game engine. AquaMark has been optimized to compare DX8 on different video cards and supports all necessary features such as vertexshader or pixelshader, etc.

Again the A7N266-C platform walks the 8KHA+ by up to 13.1 FPS at lower resolutions and by 9.7 FPS at the more popular 1024x768 resolution. Even at the highest resolution the A7N266-C holds a 1.7 FPS edge.

DroneZ is a unique benchmark. DroneZ incorporates the use of Vertex and Pixel Shaders, which are responsible for some of the most impressive examples of illumination and bump mapping found. The graphics and visual effects are truly amazing.

DroneZ is a very demanding benchmark. The 8KHA+ seeks revenge and handles the A7N266-C roughly at the lower resolutions. As we increase our resolution the gap narrows but the A7N266-C was never able to catch up.

Serious Sam Second Encounter has got to be one of the wildest, fast paced FPS since well, Serious Sam. The graphics and textures in this game are truly amazing when played at higher resolutions. Yet it demands a fast, solid system to allow fast game play that is smooth as silk.

In this run of tests the A7N266-C fairs better. The 8KHA+ does manage to hold off the charge of the A7N266-C but the gap was closed to within 1 FPS at any resolution above 800x600.
