NVIDIA has done a great job over the years of convincing consumers of
their need for these special features that are constantly added to each
new product. The implementation of Transformation & Lighting on the
first GeForce chip made those cards a "must have." The only
problem was there were no games on the market or even a year past the
introduction of the GeForce card to justify the upgrade from the TNT2
to the GeForce. Now the must have is AGP 8X.

Using our simple sea website templates on our site you can buy website templates As the benchmarks show, the Ti4800SE provides little gain over the older
Ti4400 card. The AGP 8X bus does not help the GeForce4 line when it comes
to competing with the new cards from ATI. This is where the real need
for upgrading the GeForce4 series of cards is warranted. The 9500Pro is
making its way on store shelves now, and this is bad news for NVIDIA.
For the same price as the Ti4800SE, the 9500Pro has DirectX 9 support
as well as a performance advantage over the Ti4800SE under most conditions.
The good news for NVIDIA is the GeForce FX card will replace the aging
GeForce4 products very soon. The GeForce FX will undoubtedly be offered
in many incarnations. For NVIDIA's sake they need a GeForce FX card to
compete in the Ti4800SE price range. Not everyone is willing to spend
over $400 for a video card. The features of the GeForce FX are in line
with the offerings from ATI, such as DirectX 9 support. This is what NVIDIA
needs rather than upgrading the GeForce4 series of cards.
PROs
- NVIDIA Drivers
- Fast enough for all of the games on the market
CONs
- Virtually no performance advantage over previous Ti4400 card
- Lackluster overclocking
- GeForce FX is almost on the scene
