I was very excited about the chance to overclock, or attempt to overclock these cpu's. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons I was not able to overclock the 3000+ at all and the 3200+ only went from 200Mhz to 210Mhz stable. At 220Mhz, both setups froze if overclocked from the Easy Tune 4 utility provided with the Gigabyte motherboard. When the same speed was attempted from within the BIOS, the system refused to load Windows and the BIOS defaulted back to 200Mhz. I believe this to be no fault of the cpu's. The Gigabyte motherboard used still has some issues, specifically with the BIOS. Check out my review on this motherboard for more details.

Using our simple sea website templates on our site you can buy website templates Personally, I have been waiting until I could save enough money to upgrade my system and have had my eyes on the Athlon64. I feel that everything will be going 64bit in the near future. Before long 32bit computing will be a thing of the past. Of course, being on the cutting edge of technology comes with a price, hence why I haven't personally upgraded my system. In my particular case, I am running an Intel setup and would have to replace at minimum the motherboard, cpu, and ram. Now honestly, I feel you can purchase these components rather reasonably now. With the cpu running $200-$250, and this particular motherboard in the $200 range, add ram, $175, so for somewhere around $600 you can have a new 64bit system, capable of crunching any amount of data you like and know that you will have future upgradeability options because you chose to go socket 939 instead of 754. This is not to say that the fairly new socket 754 hardware is becoming extinct, but, with support for dual channel memory, faster front side bus speeds, and lower power consumption meaning less heat, I can't really see why one would want to save a few bucks to get considerably less. It is my opinion that you will receive more value per dollar spent investing in a socket 939 system than in a socket 754 system.
