Battlefield Vietnam has a new interface that works basically the same way as Battlefield 1942 but has somewhat improved. As with most games, the basic display and sound options are available. Setting your controls is slightly easier but still suffers from a small problem. In Battlefield 1942, controls were divided onto categories: Common, Infantry, Air, and Land & Sea. Each of those subcategories could have several pages if all the controls would not fit on the screen. In BF:V the controls have been made to fit on one screen, which is more convenient; however, a minor problem still exits. This minor problem is that if you use the same key twice and go to save, the game tells you that there is a "conflict" and you must search it out. Interface does not highlight the keys in conflict, instead you must hover the mouse over each control to find out.
Multiplayer search filters could use some improvements. Currently you can eliminate non-punk buster, password protected, non-dedicated and empty servers. You cannot narrow your search to a specific map to under a certain ping, additions that would definitely prove useful.
While you wait for a map to load, the load screen presents you with information on the tanks, airplanes, weapons, or about the war itself. This is a nice touch to keep you from getting bored while your map loads.
