- Operating System: Windows XP SP2
I ran a series of benchmarks on this CPU to see how it performs; I ran some games, and gaming benchmarks, along with some CPU benchmarks. I also ran the same benchmarks on an Athlon64 FX-55 CPU, the top of the line single core CPU out there in order to get a comparison between single core and dual core.
Lets start with the gaming benchmarks.
3Dmark01
This is the benchmark run with A64 X2 Dual Core.
This is the same benchmark run with the A64 FX-55. As you can see, the FX-55 actually beat out the dual core chip, but not by too much.

Dual Core

Single Core
Again, the FX-55 beat out the dual core, but again not by much.

Dual Core

Single Core
The FX-55 beat out the X2 again, and again, not by much. However, look at the CPU score they received, the Dual core X2 received a noticeably higher score during the CPU test.
Half Life 2
I'm only giving the score from a 1024x768 resolution, because the other resolutions where more dependent on the video card then the CPU.
As you can see, the scores are pretty much the same with the two CPUs, with the FX-55 just barely beating out the X2. Not much difference between them though.
Far Cry
Again, I'm only doing the 1024x768 resolution.
Again not much difference between the two CPUs, the X2 just barely beat out the FX-55 this time.
Now lets go onto the CPU benchmarks.
PCMark02

Dual Core

Single Core
As you can see, the FX-55 again beat out the dual core CPU, this time with a noticeable difference.
Sandra Si-Soft
I ran a couple different tests with Sandra Si-Soft. I ran the CPU arithmetic benchmark, the CPU multimedia benchmark, the memory bandwidth, and the cache and memory benchmark, first lets show the CPU arithmetic results.

As you can see, the X2 really shows its colors here. It scored just a little less then twice as fast as the FX-55. Next up is the CPU Multi-Media benchmark.

As you can see again, the X2 kills the FX-55 on this test. Again it is just a little less then twice as fast. Next up is the Memory Bandwidth benchmark.

Single Core - Click to Enlarge
The two CPUs perform almost the same here, which does make sense since the Hyper Transport link is the same speed on the two CPUs. Next up is the Cache and Memory Benchmark.

The FX-55 and X2 perform about the same here, the X2 is a little bit better, but not by much.
