Our first test is always for stability. With the system up and running we crank our favorite CPU utilization program SETI. Now with SETI using 100% of the available processor we also run the Unreal Tournament entry movie looping just to push the system a bit further to the edge. Remember I'm looking to run a twenty-four seven game server. The most economical platform in the world isn't worth a dime if it's not completely stable. The system was still up and running the next morning six and a half hours later. Time to kick it into gear and see how she will handle the pressure of a few real world benchmarks and a few synthetic benchmarks as well.
SiSoft Sandra
Our first benchmark test consists of running the three most used SiSoft Sandra benchmarks. Gamers and system builders use the results to these benchmarks as indicators of a systems performance.

As you can see the CPU and Multi-Media performance of the M7VKQ and its KLE133 chipset holds a slight edge on the 8KHA+. This was a bit surprising to me as I clearly expected the 8KHA+ to win. Now about the memory results, as expected the KT266a DDR chipset shows it's muscle and gives the older PC133 memory technology a thrashing.
CLI Bench MK III SMP
CLI Bench is a synthetic system test that runs a gamut of benchmarks. These benchmarks include: Dhrystones, Whetstones, Eight queens' problem, Matrix operations, Number Crunching, Floating point, memory throughput as well as CPU usage.

The M7VKQ holds it own again through five of the seven tests run and even manages to outperform the 8KHA+ in two of the tests. Looking at the memory throughput test again we see the advantages the KT266a DDR chipset holds over the PC133 memory.
Science Mark 1.0
Science Mark is a collection of three-computer science + physics codes that calculate the total energy of a Water Molecule using quantum Monte Carlo, determines the quantum solutions to Schrodinger equation for all 61 electrons in the element Promethium, performs a molecular dynamics simulation of 216Argon atoms at 140 Kelvin. In a word this benchmark is a real CRUNCHER.

Content Creation Winstone 2001 Ver 1.01 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance. Content Creation will keep several applicationsat once and switches among those applications. Programs used during this are Adobe Photoshop 5.5, Adobe Premiere 5.1, Macromedia Director 8.0, Macromedia Dreamweaver 3.0, Netscape Navigator 4.73, and Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 4.5.

Business Winstone 2001 Ver 1.01 is another system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance. Business Winstone runs Access, Excel, FrontPage, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Project 98, Lotus Notes R5, NicoMak WinZip, Norton AntiVirus and Netscape Communicator. Each of these applications run through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC takes to complete those activities to produce its performance scores.
Click image to view largerAgain the M7VKQ loses to the 8KHA+. Unfortunately I did not have 512 megs of PC133 memory to test the M7VKQ. Each of these programs when running separately demand a large amount of memory, and with multiple windows of each running simultaneously can put a large demand on any system. With only 256 megs of memory I experienced some hard drive swapping which I believe to have contributed to some of the margin between the two platforms.
