Setup and Installation
The installation of the MPX2 is again simple and straightforward. However due to the size of this platform I would recommend you make sure your case can handle a platform with this size footprint. As with all platforms, I have gotten into the habit of mounting the processors and heatsinks before I install the platform into the case. This lends itself to simple and quick platform installation.
With everything installed, it is time to power up the system and head into the Bios. Looking around in the Bios we find nothing really different than most. Iwill has included the usual platform adjustments. We do have the ability to manually adjust the memory timing settings for better performance; however, we will be running SPD memory settings during our evaluation session. Iwill has also given us the ability to adjust the FSB settings in one Mhz increments. These settings will allow us to overclock our platform.

We first installed Windows 2000 Professional and the necessary platform, peripheral drivers and associated updates. The process was smooth and painless. With the OS up and running it is time to install Unreal Tournament and hand the system over to my pre-tester Mini-Bite. Setup for an evening of gaming on her favorite UT server, the MPX2 handles countless hours of fraggin. Having passed this first test of stability it is time to load up Folding@Home and push the MPX2 hard. Running two separate instances of Folding while looping the Unreal Tournament entry movie the system was left to run overnight. Bright and early the next morning the MPX2 was happily folding away while still looping the Unreal Tournament entry movie. Passing this test sets the stage for a day of benchmarking and testing. Before we head off into benchmark land lets take a quick look at the configuration of not only the MPX2 platform but also its competition, the Twin Tyan Tigers.
