The Scientific Decibel Testing
|
| We were rummaging around in the bag of tricks, but couldn't seem to find
a decimometer, so we've done the next best thing. We've started these two
power supplies up in the same system for a little non-scientific comparative
analysis. In other words, we're able to tell you which one is the quieter
choice, which whines the most, and hopefully from that, which will be the
easiest to live with as far as noise is concerned. We don't have any measurements
of the sound levels to offer, other than our own ears. |
| |
| The Enermax is exceptionally quiet with the fans turned down to low speed.
Even with the fans set on high, the unit is very quiet. It certainly is
no louder than our case fans or CPU cooler, which are 80mm variable speed
Enermax fans. |
| |
| The I-Star is a good bit louder and higher pitched than the Enermax. It
isn't a troublesome noise, but it is by no means quiet. |
