Overclocking

If you have already read the article of 'The Battle of the Registered PC3200s,' then you will know that I took that motherboard to an amazing 234 MHz. In doing so, I caused the buses to be all wacky, and therefore I am using the Corsair RAM once again for the SK8V to see how far this motherboard can go.

So lets compare the benchmarks again. This benchmark is from the SK8N on a 10x multiplier using the most relaxed timings on Corsair RAM.

The SK8V had little to no overclocking options at all. A little raise to the FSB to 205 MHZ did not work. The timing to the memory was great; there was tons of tweaks. However, there was no hope to overclocking. The SK8V provided only underclocking options. There was little voltage control to the Vcore, and there was also great voltage tweaking for the HyperTransport. One assumption that proved false was the belief that this motherboard would suit overclocking much better.

There were however tweaks like Safe, Standard, Turbo1, Turbo 2, and Turbo 3.

Standard mode produces results like this

Turbo 1 failed miserably because it would not POST.

Turbo 2

Obviously Turbo 1 failed because of the additional tweaks looking at the average FPS, the lower the Turbo - the faster it became.
